Watson
is a small but growing unincorporated town located in the northwest
corner of Livingston Parish. It is one of the fastest growing
areas in Livingston Parish. Watson retains that small town quality
of life but is located close enough to Baton Rouge and Denham
Springs to take advantage of their amenities.
Watson
is a great place to call home, play, and raise a family. Our
neighborhoods continue to grow and our schools rank as some
of the highest in the state. With the opening of North Live
Oak Elementary in August 2005 there are now 5 public schools
in Watson. They are Live Oak Elementary, North Live Oak Elementary,
South Live Oak Elementary, Live Oak Middle School, and Live
Oak High School home of the Eagles. There are now plans in the
work for a new high school and turning the current high school
into a second middle school for Watson.
The
children of Watson can be found participating in softball, baseball,
football, and cheerleading through the Live Oak Sports Association
during the year. You can also find them learning karate or dance
at one of the local studios.
Watson
has seen a steady growth in local businesses in the past few
years and continues to grow as the population does. A few
of the new businesses include a new grocery store, flea
markets, children's indoor activity center and drug store. A
new state of the art Library has also recently opened next door
to North Live Oak Elementary. During the summer Watson visitors
can be seen racing go carts on or tubing on the Amite river.
Watson
is also the home of many wonderful and active churches in the
area. As with the businesses the number of local churches have
increased too, along with increased growth in membership rolls
of existing churches.
